“Academy for the Fine Arts” Festival

The Randall Area Fine Arts Council invites all ages to attend the second annual “Academy for the Fine Arts” Festival, to be held Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5 at Prem Sahai Auditorium, Webster City High School, 1001 Lynx Ave, Webster City.

Festivities will begin at 7:00 PM on Friday with a concert of classical music and improvisations by Ames pianist and composer Paul Hertz. Other festival artists and young artists will also be featured.

On Saturday, guest artist performances will begin at 11:00 AM.

At 1:30 PM on Saturday, the Ames Children’s Concert Choir will perform. The Concert Choir, conducted by Jade Fox, is the oldest of the three choirs in the Ames Children’s Choirs program, which is celebrating its 20th season in 2014-15.

Jane Cox, Director of Theatre at Iowa State University, will perform a one-woman show on the life of Nobel Prize-winning geneticist Barbara McClintock at 3:00 PM Saturday.

Nevada singer Keith Huhn will be the featured artist for the Saturday evening concert at 7:00 PM.

On Sunday, there will be a community church service led by Keith Huhn at 10:00 AM. Guest artist performances will continue throughout the day, culminating in a grand finale concert at 5:00 PM.

Young artists from central Iowa will featured throughout the festival.

All events are free and open to the public, and are funded through free will offerings and donations.
